Movies!
Starting around Halloween we got the movie bug and have rented or borrowed whatever we can get our hands on, curled up on the couch and were taken away to distant times, lands and places.
On Halloween we watched The Last Man on Earth. This movie stars Vincent Price and is in black and white. It is the original that Will Smith's new Movie I am Legend is based off of - I am thinking that Will Smith's version of vampires (although they seemed sort of like Zombies in the old version) will be a little faster and scary. I wasn't that impressed, but it might have been because we were interrupted by tricker-treaters every few minutes.
The next movie that was up was The Birds. I had seen this movie when I was in middle school and wasn't that scared. This time I was SOOOO scared. Matt seemed to be chilling on the other side of the couch while I was anxiously fidgeting through the suspense. I was definitely creeped out.
We also re-viewed all 3 Back to the Future movies thanks to Dan letting us borrow them. Nothing like some mid 80's movies to make you feel old.
Last week we rented The Nightmare Before Christmas and the 1952 classic The Crimson Pirate. Nightmare was great because in the bonus features it had some of Tim Burton's short films - Vincent and Frankenweenie. As for the pirate movie... why do they have to wear spandex pants? It's sort of disturbing.
Lastly, we rented Big Fish and Planet of the Apes. We watched Big Fish last night - it is a great movie! If you are up for a movie that makes you both laugh and cry and cry while you laugh, then check it out! There is a line at the end of the movie that made us burst out laughing in the middle of our tears, or maybe it made us cry in the midst of laughter. There should be a term for laughing and crying at the same time. Planet of the Apes tonight...
